The beginnings of “hot-wire” technology remain traceable in the functionality and design of Kurz Portable Air Velocity Instruments. Hot-Wire began its career as a simple laboratory instrument; Kurz has models that demonstrate the evolution from those beginnings to the true Industrial workhorse that thermal transfer technology has become.

The 2440 Series
The Series 2440 are smart, rugged, reliable, accurate and easy-to-use Portable Thermal Air Velocity Meters for nearly all flow measurement applications. These include Industrial Hygiene, Air Pollution, HVAC, Combustion Air Flow, Stack and Duct Velocity Traverses, and many others.

The five models measure air velocity, mass flow, and temperature over the range of -40°C to +500°C and to 18,000 SFPM. Distinguisable by their sensor design, each model within the series meets a different sensor design while utilizing the same basic electronic unit. With sensors ideal for lab and bench work (2441), HVAC and Industrial Hygene (2442), light industrial and Field work (2443), heavy industrial work (2444) and high temperatures (2445) the series provides digital display, data logging, velocity, volumetric, and mass flow and temperature. Each model includes a rugged carrying case, universal battery charger, an aluminum electronics module with convenient back-lit LCD/Keypad, and serious 1500 point data logging/retrieving capability. The five Series 2440 Models are the most advanced and versatile Air Velocity Meters available. Distinguishable by their sensor design, each model within the series meets a different sensor design while utilizing the same basic electronic unit.

The 440 Series
Representing the first line of industrialized lab devices, the 440 series has been a stock design for Kurz Instruments for over 25 years. The rapid response RTD has been encased in ceramic to increase life and dependability. Rechargeable operation and classic needle meter complete the design.

The 490 Series
The true “hot wire” of the Kurz family. Open coil filament, extremely sensitive, rapid response in a near pocket sized affordable unit.
